The Canberra Capitals will road test their new look team for fans Wednesday 26th September at Belconnen Basketball and Sports Centre in a pre-season clash with a visiting emerging Chinese Women’s team.

The game which will tip off at 5.45 pm and features free admission for all spectators, should see the Capitals at almost full strength bar for WNBA-committed Lauren Jackson.

Capitals Head Coach Carrie Graf was thankful for the extra game preparation and keen to see how the new mixture can gel.

“We’re a long way away from being ready but between the WNBL’s event at Dandenong and this game, we should be able to tighten some things for the season opener in Sydney on October 6” Graf said.

The Chinese National Women’s team was one of the surprise packets at the recent London Olympics, eventually being eliminated by the Opals in a hotly contested Quarter Final and have included a range of their most promising prospects in a team which will also take part in this week’s official season launch event in Melbourne.

Jackson’s Seattle Storm side is now locked into a Western Conference first round playoff series with defending WNBA champions the Minnesota Lynx, which begins on 27th September and depending on how far the Storm can progress should be back in Canberra sometime in October (24th October is the latest possible date for the conclusion of the WNBA Finals).
