Players and staff from the Southern Design Sydney Uni Flames hosted some of Hornsby’s best up and coming juniors in a Super Skills Development Camp held last week.
Head Coach Karen Dalton, Community Operations Manager Trish Fallon & Flames players Alicia Poto and Jaimee Kennedy put players aged 8-16 years through three hours of skills and drills with emphasis on having fun.
Flames point guard Poto said the day was a great opportunity to give back to the Association who has been a long term supporter and sponsor of the Sydney Uni Flames whilst showing our commitment to working with local Associations in the development of grassroots basketball.
“We always have a great turn out at Hornsby which is why every year we run a couple of camps. These kids just love to learn and what better way to do that than with players from the Flames who they look up to and aspire to be like in the future.” said Poto
“Their enthusiasm is second to none, and who knows just one day we may see any one of these players in the Flames uniform.”
Poto and Kennedy are currently playing for the Hornsby Spiders in the ABA competition and also train with the Sydney based players and squad members every week during the off-season at the Sydney Uni Sports & Aquatic Centre.
