Chalmers, who was a member of the Spirit’s inaugural team, was a consistent performer for the Spirit in the 09/10 season.
She played in all 23 matches, including a season-best 11 points, five rebounds and three steals against eventual champions the Canberra Capitals.
Originally from Echuca, Chalmers has played the majority of her basketball in Bendigo, playing 57 WNBL games for the Spirit as well as being part of the Champions IGA Lady Braves side in the SEABL.
The 27-year-old averaged three points, two rebounds and one assist per game in the 2009/10 WNBL season for the Spirit.
Spirit coach Bernie Harrower said Chalmers provides the team with great depth in her role as a back-up point guard.
“Jane’s work rate is phenomenal and on many occasions her efforts at both ends of the floor have helped to swing the momentum of a game in our favour,” Harrower said.
“It’s great to have her back on board because last year I felt like Jane really grew into her role and played double-digit minutes in most matches.
“Jane is also one of those players who regularly excites the crowd and inspires her teammates by putting her body on the line to grab a loose ball.”
