The Adelaide Lightning have finished strongly to secure a big home win, their first win of the season, against the West Coast Waves 83-74 on Sunday.
The game was an arm-wrestle for three and a half quarters, with Adelaide lifting late in the contest, going on a 13-0 run in the last quarter to build what was ultimately an insurmountable lead, taking the big nine point victory.
Despite enjoying fewer looks at the basket, the Lightning were simply more accurate, shooting at 47 per cent to the Waves’ 37 per cent performance.
For the Lightning, Tegan Cunningham had an impressive game, top-scoring with 27, while Mia Newley seemed to be doing it all, finishing with 23 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four blocks.
