Current Assistant Coach and close friend of Waters, Dean Kinsman will assume the role of Head Coach effective immediately.
Kinsman who joined the Rangers as Assistant Coach this year comes with a strong basketball background having played and coached at the highest level, most recently as Head Coach of the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and Australian U19 Junior women’s team, the Gems.
Due to some personal circumstances that have been building over the last few months, Waters has had to make a decision to focus his energies in other areas. He will continue to contribute to the Dandenong Jayco Rangers WNBL program in the role as Assistant Coach and also work commercially with the association.
This decision by Waters will also allow him to devote further attention to the Australian U19 Women’s Team (The Gems) in his role as Head Coach of that program.
When asked of his decision, Waters stated that ‘I make this difficult but necessary decision of my own accord, and look forward to staying involved with the Jayco Rangers WNBL program and the club commercially. I’m a very loyal person, and Dandenong have been very supportive of me whilst I’ve been at the club, and they continue to do so in this time. I am also very excited about continuing my coaching partnership with Dean whom I have a tremendous respect for and enjoy a unique friendship with that extends to both our families.
Dandenong Basketball CEO Graeme Allen says that although he is disappointed Dale will relinquish the role of Head Coach, he was also pleased that he will remain involved at the club.
“Dale is a quality person and I am very pleased that he will remain at the association assisting Dean as well as working with our corporate partners” said Allen.
