Big third quarter seals victory for Capitals

Despite winning three of the four quarters, the Dandenong Rangers have fallen to the League-leading Canberra Capitals at AIS Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Down by six point at half time, the Capitals dug deep in the third, scoring a massive 38 points for the term to head into the final quarter up by 10.

Dandenong worked to gat back in the game, but the Capitals held on to claim the eight point victory, protecting top spot after 12 rounds.

For the Capitals, Suzi Batkovic had a massive game, scoring 28 points and reeling in 10 boards and four steals. Her partner in the paint, Marianna Tolo was also impressive, finishing with 21 points and 10 boards.

For the visiting Rangers, Abby Bishop returned to form, top scoring for her side with 24 points, while Kathleen MacLeod added 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Dandenong won’t have to wait long to seek revenge – they host the Capitals next Saturday night at Dandenong Stadium.
