The Dandenong Rangers have held off a tough fight from bottom-of-the-table Adelaide Lightning on Friday night, holding on to win the game 81-74 at Dandenong Basketball Stadium.
The game saw a delayed start due to heavy rain and a leaking roof, but once things got underway, things heated up quickly, as both sides put together big opening terms offensively.
Dandenong crept further in front after the second and third term and despite a tough fight-back from Adelaide in the last quarter, the Rangers hung on to take the critical victory.
Kath MacLeod returned to form, finishing the game with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Abby Bishop added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Jessica Foley chimed in with 14 points.
For Adelaide, Angela Marino ignited for 23 points, while DeMya Walker added 18 points and nine rebounds. Tegan Cunningham finished with 11 points.
Although not convincing, the result returns the Rangers to that winning feeling as they fight to get back into the top five. But itís getting tight around the middle of the table and itíll be another win that the Rangers seek when they prepare to tackle West Coast on Sunday.
Dandenong Rangers 81 (Kath MacLeod 17, Abby Bishop 15, Jess Foley 14) defeated Adelaide Lightning 74 (Angela Marino 23, DeMya Walker 18, Tegan Cunningham 11)
