WNBL playing stocks have filled the Australian Gems squad named this week ahead of the 2012 Under 19 Oceania Championships.
A total of six WNBL players have been named in the squad that will travel to New Zealand aiming to book their place in the 2013 FIBA Under 19 World Championship.
Leading the talent-filled squad is 2012 Betty Watson WNBL Rookie of the Year Carley Mijovic, who capped off a great season with the AIS by signing with her hometown club Dandenong Rangers for the upcoming campaign.
The exciting young centre will be part of an Australian squad eager to maintain the impressive record of winning in the Oceania region and will be joined by five other WNBL contracted players.
Fellow Dandenong Ranger Tenaya Phillips, Logan’s Mikhaela Donnelly, West Coast Waves youngster Darcee Garbin, Canberra’s Casey Samuels and Adelaide Lightning rising star Stephanie Talbot round out the WNBL contingent, offering Gems Coach Cheryl Chambers plenty of quality at her disposal.
The 2012 Under 19 Oceania Championships take place in Porirua, New Zealand from 20-22 September.
