A late surge from the Canberra Capitals was not enough to snatch victory, going down to China B 77-74 in the final round of games at the WNBL Pre Season Tournament at Dandenong Stadium.

BOXSCORE

Despite a 25-point showing from Jess Bibby, the Capitals threw away a double digit lead at halftime unable to continue the momentum built in the first 20 minutes of play.

Bibby turned back the clock in the first half, scoring a tournament-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting, keeping the Capitals in the contest as China threatened to run away with the game.

The veteran gunner was well supported by Brigitte Ardossi who tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds in the three-point defeat.

What we learnt
When you’re hot, you’re hot: Jess Bibby’s production was well down last season, but she showed this weekend that she can light it up when called on.
