Chinese National Team player and NBL1 talent Shuyu Yang has committed to the Sydney Flames for the WNBL27 Season, pending League approval.

The Olympic medallist has been a known name in Southern Hemisphere basketball for many years, winning the FIBA 2023 Women’s Asia Cup in Sydney, representing China in both the 5v5 and 3x3 formats, and currently dominating in the NBL1 South with the Melbourne Tigers.

Averaging 19.4 points, 4.9 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game, the Tigers are well within the hunt for the Finals off the back of Yang’s spectacular on-court display.

She follows national team teammates Han Xu (WNBL26) and Siyu ‘Rainy’ Wang (Southside Melbourne Flyers) in Chinese stars calling the WNBL home.

Yang joins Ally Wilson, Jaz Shelley, Isabelle Bourne, Charlise Dunn, Agnes Emma-Nnopu, Isabelle Morgan, Lauren Nicholson, Shaneice Swain and Maya Dodson for next season.
