This weekend's games saw the WNBL celebrate its Indigenous Round, with all eight teams wearing their specially designed uniforms.
Adding to that is the competition's Indigenous artist, Kirby Bentley, emphasising the amazing stories and connections the WNBL has to the country's proud heritage.
Join us as we recap all the top moments from Round 2, during our weekly column.
Undefeated Fire send statement
In a game that was billed as a battle of WNBL goliaths, the Townsville Fire showed why they are the early championship favourites by easily accounting for the UC Capitals, during Saturday's home opener in Canberra.
After winning the inaugural Townsville Tip-Off and defeating reigning champions Bendigo and Canberra in the first two rounds, Shannon Seebhom's side appear right in the mix to go one better than they did last season.
The Fire, led by Abbey Ellis' 23 points a game, now travel to the State Basketball Centre on Friday, aiming to keep their unbeaten start to the season going against a strong Southside Melbourne Flyers outfit.
First time winners
Round 2 saw numerous teams chalk up their first wins of the exciting WNBL26 season.
Southside Melbourne fought back to defeat Sydney at Quaycentre, Geelong easily accounted for Adelaide and reigning champions Bendigo edged the Venom on Tuesday night.
All eyes will be on Adelaide to see if they can join the party and chalk up win number one of the season on Saturday when they host the UC Capitals.
Mackenzie in the MVP mix
Through the opening two rounds, there have been a number of standout players.
Probably none more so than Geelong import Mackenzie Holmes.
The forward, who played for the Seattle Storm during the 2025 WNBA season, is currently leading the league in scoring, at 27.67 points per game.
Combine that with her 9.67 rebounds (second best in the league behind Anneli Maley) and 2 blocks (equal third in the WNBL), and the University of Indiana product has been a big part of why the injury struck Venom have been in the mix of all three of their 2025 26 fixtures.
Honourable mentions at this stage include Sydney's Lauren Nicholson and Townsville's Courtney Woods.
Crowd numbers surge
Round 2's crowds built off the back of the WNBL's historic opening round, with the competition recording a significant increase year on year.
Highlighting that was Geelong's phenomenal attendance for the second straight week, while AIS Arena was rocking for the Capitals' home opener against the Fire.
With five blockbusters scheduled for Round 3, expect the crowd numbers to continue to rise during this re energised WNBL season.
Indigenous Round leaves ever-lasting impact
The WNBL is halfway through its 2025 26 Indigenous Round and so far, every part of this special event on the calendar has been incredible.
From the specially designed jerseys with ties to their respective areas, to the amazing stories and game day activations, this season's Indigenous Round has reached unprecedented heights.
We cannot wait to see what this weekend's special fixtures have in store for us all.
