Standout young gun Kiara Waite will commit to the Adelaide Lightning for the WNBL27 Season, pending League approval.
The Western Australian junior has spent the past two seasons with the Perth Lynx, having her best year yet playing 22 games for the Grand Finalists.
The 6’3” forward will be an important addition to the Lightning’s roster, backing up Opal Zitina Aokuso.
"Kiara showed during her WNBL season that she isn't afraid of the big stage, and her growth over the past year has been remarkable,” Head Coach Aja Parham-Ammar said.
“She brings a dynamic edge to our frontcourt, a willingness to compete on every single possession and I can't wait to work with her to help elevate her game to the next level."
Leaving home her the first time, Waite is looking forward to her interstate move and starting a new chapter in her professional career.
“Personally, it's an awesome opportunity to grow and learn, experience a new place, and step outside my comfort zone,” she said.
“Professionally, heading into my third year, I'm excited to keep developing my game and growing as a player and teammate. I'm excited to bring my competitiveness, work ethic, and positive mindset to the team.”
Waite joins an impressive squad for the upcoming season, featuring Opals Steph Talbot and Zitina Aokuso with Tayla Brazel, Coco Hodges, Elissa Brett, Shay Ciezki, Gemma Potter, and Jess McDowell-White.
