Exciting She Hoops Roadshow gains momentum

Fresh off a successful opening week of the She Hoops' TechnologyOne Townsville Tip Off North Queensland Roadshow, the event will continue next weekend.

The next stops of the event will be in Townsville and Burdekin, which will see both cities host clinics and Indigenous Leadership Program sessions.

First up on Friday, August 28, She Hoops will host an Indigenous Leadership class, consisting of activities and conversations with elite athletes and community role models, in Townsville from 4-7pm.

The following day in Burdekin, there will be an Indigenous Leadership session from 9am-12pm, followed by a clinic for girls aged 6-17 years, from 1-4pm. The latter will see the stars of tomorrow learn from Opals' Courtney Woods and Cayla George, as well as Jacqui Dover.

The big weekend will wrap up back in Townsville for a Super Camp, featuring George and Adelaide Lightning's Jess McDowell-White, from 8am-12.30pm.

These events follow the successful stops in Cairns and Port Douglas, where more than 80 girls participated in the Roadshow.

George, who was present for the first two stops of the Roadshow, said the connection went beyond basketball skills.

"If you can see it, you can be it," George said.

"Being out here in these communities and showing young girls what's possible is just as important as anything we do on the international stage."
