Sienna Lehmann, fresh off completing a six-week intensive Lightning Academy program, has committed to Adelaide as a Development Player for the WNBL27 season.

The program which Lehmann has graduated from is designed to identify local South Australian talent and build a clear pathway into professional basketball.

"The Academy is already doing exactly what we set out for it to do, finding South Australian talent and creating a genuine pathway into the Lightning program," Lightning GM Tess Madgen said.

"Seeing local players like Sienna earn this opportunity proves to young SA athletes that reaching the elite level is well within their grasp."

Lightning coach Aja Parham-Ammar was impressed with Lehmann as soon as she stepped on the court during the Academy.

"Sienna's speed, confidence, and natural instincts for the game made her a standout from day one at the Academy," Parham-Ammar said.

"I'm eager to see her thrive as she transitions into the professional setting and continues to develop over the coming years."

19-year-old Lehmann grew up in the Riverland, came through the SA Country pathway, represented Australia at the junior level and won the U20 National Championships, alongside her new Lightning teammates, Aspen Crase and Coco Hodges.

Adding to the significance of her signing, Lehmann, who also played NBL1 with West Adelaide, carries a deep family connection to Lightning history, being the niece of Opals legend Rachael Sporn.

"Joining the Lightning through the Academy is a dream come true," Lehmann said.

"Taking part in the program gave me so much confidence and showed me a clear path to the next level, so earning this contract means everything to me.

"And having that deep family connection to the club makes it even more special.

"Wearing the #14 jersey and following in my aunt Rachael's footsteps is an absolute honour, and I can't wait to give it my all for South Australia."

Adelaide open their 2026-27 season on October 18 against Sydney at Quaycentre.
