The Geelong Venom have announced the signing of Georgia Woolley as an injury replacement player for the remainder of the WNBL26 season.
Woolley, who will replace the injured Gemma Potter, joins the club with an impressive resume across US college basketball, NBL1 and international development pathways.
The 22-year-old guard is a former MAC Freshman of the Year at the University at Buffalo before transferring to Syracuse University, where she grew into a consistent scoring threat and on court leader in the ACC. She averaged 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists in her final collegiate season and was selected as a team captain for 2024 to 2025.
Since returning home, Woolley has featured in NBL1 South with the Ballarat Miners while being recognised as a 2025 WNBA Draft prospect. Known for her size, poise and versatility, she adds immediate depth to Geelong’s perimeter rotation.
"The club welcomes Georgia to the Venom and looks forward to her impact on and off the court," a Venom spokesperson said.
Woolley is slated to make her Venom debut on Friday, December 5 when Geelong takes on Bendigo at Red Energy Arena from 7pm AEDT.
