Talking points

Championship Series Rematch

There’s plenty of feeling in this contest after the Townsville Fire secured a 2-0 victory in the WNBL26 Championship Series against the Perth Lynx last season.

Each team’s off-season couldn’t have been more different, with Townsville retaining the majority of its championship-winning core, while Perth saw plenty of turnover with Ally Wilson, Amy Atwell, and Han Xu all moving across the country.

While these two sides will tip off their season with the same matchup they ended with, it certainly won’t look the same as it did when Townsville became the WNBL26 champions.

Georgia Amoore to lead the way

While the loss of point guard Ally Wilson was a huge one for the Lynx, they’ve replenished their stocks with another superstar in Georgia Amoore.

Coming in off the back of a terrific WNBA campaign with the Washington Mystics, where she averaged 7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, including a season-high 25 points against Phoenix in August, Amoore is primed to lead a new-look Lynx outfit in WNBL27.

Some doubt has been cast over whether Perth will be able to contend again this season after losing key names to other clubs, but with Amoore dictating things at the point guard position, there’s certainly reason to believe the Lynx can be there again.
