Talking points

Can Sydney back up their Friday night heroics?

The Flames tipped off their WNBL27 Season in style against the Southside Melbourne Flyers on Friday night, coming from behind to claim a four-point win at the State Basketball Centre.

While the Flyers looked to be in control early in the contest, dragging their lead out to as many as 13 points in the third quarter, the class of Renae Garlepp's Flames shone through in the end.

They should take some momentum from that performance into Sunday's game, though Adelaide won't be easy to beat at any stage in WNBL27.

Star-studded Adelaide lineup makes debut

The Lightning are bringing a fresh lineup into WNBL27, stacked with some HUGE names.

Australian Opal Zitina Aokuso will lead the way for this one in her first game for Adelaide, and she'll be joined by Phoenix Mercury star imports Shay Ciezki and Maddy Westbeld for their WNBL debuts, and rising star Tayla Brazel who will aim to take her game to another level this year.

With superstar captain Steph Talbot and the returning Gemma Potter still left to come in, the Lightning will certainly be looking to contend in WNBL27.
