Talking points

Jade Melbourne returns to Canberra in Round 1

Superstar Jade Melbourne will debut for Bendigo, and what better way to tip things off than a return to Canberra to face her former side?

Spending six seasons at the Capitals, the Traralgon-born star has made her way back to regional Victoria following a strong WNBA season with the Seattle Storm where she staked her claim to a starting role and dropped 9.1 points per game.

Melbourne will need to lead the way for the Spirit without reigning MVP Izzy Borlase by her side, but that isn't a task she's unfamiliar with.

New home for Amy Atwell

After four seasons at the Perth Lynx, Amy Atwell has made the move over to Canberra to play for the UC Capitals.

Team chemistry is high at the Capitals, and Atwell explained on The Loop that she has "loved every second of it" since her arrival.

Averaging 15.7 points per game last season in Perth's run to the Championship Series, Atwell is a genuine threat all over the floor and she'll look to carry momentum out of WNBL26 and her gold-medal winning 3x3 campaign with the Gangurrus at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
