What they said
Adelaide Lightning GM Tess Madgen:
"I've said it a million times since I retired two years ago, but I wish I was just starting my career instead of ending it.
"It is still really cool to be a part of that as a general manager of a team and having an impact in a different way.
"Being in a front office, you can really push, be involved in the decision-making, and be involved in that change.
"Obviously the players deserve what they're worth, with everything that's happening over in the WNBA.
"So to be able to be doing that at a WNBL level, while continually increasing those standards across the League is awesome.
"It's obviously resonating with the players too, with a number of the Opals flying back straight from the World Cup to be here in Townsville for this wonderful tournament."

Tasmania Jewels coach Claudia Brassard:
"We understand what we mean to the state, so we want to represent Tasmania the best we can.
"That starts with competing, playing tough and being resilient every time we play.
"If we make connections early and build that trust among one another, that will go a long way to us being successful.
"As important as it is to be successful on the court, we need to also be off the court, connecting to the community [in any way we can].
"There's an incredible amount of excitement around the whole state, and we can't wait to play in front of our fans very soon."
