Superstar and Australian Opal Jade Melbourne is set to take her talents to a new WNBL team for the upcoming season.
Starting her career with the Capitals fresh out of the Australian Institute of Sport, Melbourne has developed into one of the country’s best players in Canberra.
A resume including an Olympic medallist, a three-time All-WNBL team member and being a key piece of a WNBA team all started in the nation’s capital.
“I walked into the Caps as an eager 18-year-old, since then I’ve grown so much and had six of the most amazing years representing the UC Caps,” Melbourne said in a heartfelt statement.
“As I continue to pursue my goals as a player, I’ve decided to take on a new opportunity and create a new chapter in my basketball journey with another WNBL team.”
In an injury-riddled season, Melbourne still managed to average 11.2 points, 5.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds, just shy of helping her team to the Finals.
Fresh off a season-high with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, where will Jade Melbourne land in WNBL27?
