Lauren Nicholson ruled out for WNBL26

Sydney Flames star Lauren Nicholson has been ruled out for the remainder of WNBL26 with a quad injury in her team's Round 12 win over Bendigo Spirit. 

This season, Nicholson made a spectacular return to WNBL courts giving birth to her first child in April last year. In 16 games, Nicholson averaged 17.1 points, three assists and 2.5 rebounds per game for the 5-12 Flames.

“Returning to the court after the birth of her son, Ari, Loz has been an incredible leader for this group,” a Sydney spokesperson said.

“Her presence and influence from the bench will be a vital part of our push as we continue to fight for a Finals spot.”

She will be replaced by young gun Ruby Perkins, who recently committed to the University of California. Perkins will fit easily into Head Coach Renae Garlepp’s side, having coached her to silver in last year’s FIBA Women’s U19 World Cup.
