Lightning star struck down by season-ending injury

Scans have confirmed that Adelaide Lightning star Serena Sundell will miss the remainder of the WNBL26 season due to a left knee injury.

The Adelaide Lightning's worst fears have been confirmed, with scans diagnosing import Serena Sundell with a ruptured ACL in her knee.
The 22-year-old, who was averaging 13 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, sustained the injury during the second half of Adelaide's win over Sydney on Sunday.
This injury, confirmed by Adelaide on Thursday, will rule the Kansas State University alum, who played for Dallas in the recent WNBA season, out for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
Adelaide, who are 2-2 on the WNBL26 season, travel to Townsville on Saturday to play the Fire.
That Round 5 fixture tips off at 7pm AEDT at the Townsville Entertainment Centre.
