Multiple WNBL stars signed for WNBA training camps

Four WNBL superstars are set to test their worth in the WNBA with multiple training camp contracts handed out recently.

Starting from April 19, four Australians will compete against some of the world’s best talent as the WNBA season quickly approaches. 

Starting with MVP runner-up Anneli Maley, she will head to New York to train with the Liberty to play alongside superstar Sabrina Ionescu. Coming off a WNBL First-Team season where she led her Perth Lynx to the Grand Final, Maley is truly in career-best form. 

Shooting a career-high from the three-point arc and maintaining her dominance on the boards, she just scored a competition record 65 points in NBL1 to once again prove she’s one of the best players on the planet. 

Lynx teammate Ally Wilson will also head over to the East Coast, signing with the Washington Mystics. Also in a career campaign, Wilson has developed into one of the country’s best point guards, averaging close to 5 assists and being Perth’s late-game closer all season, averaging 14.1 points per game. 

Speaking of closers, Grand Final Series hero Miela Sowah will stay in warmer climates, joining the Golden State Valkyries in their second season in the WNBA. 

Coming off a career-best scoring campaign, the All-WNBL Second Team member was the pure scorer Townsville needed to get over the hump – scoring 36 points in the two-game series to sweep the Lynx on their home floor. 

Lastly, superstar point guard Maddy Rocci will join Sandy Brondello in her first season as Head Coach of the Toronto Tempo. The three-time WNBL Champion has developed into one of the WNBL’s best playmakers, averaging a league-high 6.7 per game for the Southside Melbourne Flyers.

As Southside’s go-to perimeter threat and conductor, she had a brilliant campaign for the Semi Finalists.
