Former WNBL superstar Naz Hillmon has been awarded the WNBA’s Sixth Player of the Year award.
The former Melbourne Boomers and Southside Flyer had a breakout season in the WNBA, following Vericona Burton (Most Improved) and Alanna Smith (Co-Defensive Player of the Year) in WNBL alumni receiving major WNBA awards.
In her two seasons Down Under, Hillmon was one of the best players in the competition, being named to the All WNBL Second-Team in 2024 and the First-Team in 2025.
Following a breakout season with the Flyers, Hillmon became the go-to scorer off the bench for the Atlanta Dream this season – averaging 8.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Finals team. Her WNBL experience also improved her perimeter game, with 53 made three-pointers — after hitting just one across her first three WNBA seasons.
As a result, Hillmon received 44 of 72 votes from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.
Hillmon’s Dream just concluded a three-game series in the First Round against a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever, being eliminated 2-1.
The WNBL season starts October 18th, watch every game live and free via 9Now, WNBL.com.au and the WNBL App.
