WNBL champion and Australian representative Ally Wilson is set to return to the Sydney Flames after committing to a two-year deal, pending WNBL review and approval.
Wilson, who is currently in training camp with WNBA franchise the Washington Mystics, said she is extremely excited to commit to the Flames.
“It feels like a full circle moment for me, I’ve won a championship with this organisation and played many years of my career here,” Wilson said.
“I can’t wait to play for Renae [Garleep]. I admired her as a player, and I am eager to continue to develop under her and help get Sydney back to playing finals basketball.”
A two-time WNBL champion, including a title with the Flames, Wilson was also named to the competition’s 2025-26 First Team, after an outstanding campaign where she averaged 14.1 points, 5 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game, leading her team to the Championship Series.
Beyond domestic success, Wilson has represented Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics in 3x3 and played a key role in the Opals’ gold medal-winning 2025 Asia Cup campaign.
“I’m really excited to welcome Ally back to the Flames,” Garlepp said.
“She’s an outstanding talent who impacts the game in so many ways, but what really stands out is the passion and competitiveness she plays with every time she steps on the floor.
“She brings great energy, toughness and a real will to win, and we can’t wait to have her in Sydney.”
Wilson’s return follows the Flames’ recent signing of Jaz Shelley and Charlise Dunn, who will be joined by Lauren Nicholson, Shaneice Swain, Agnes Emma-Nnopu and Issy Morgan on the roster next season.
