The Perth Lynx have added to their exciting young Western Australian core by announcing that forward Reece Anticevic has committed to the club for the WNBL27 season as an amateur player, pending League approval.
The 18-year-old returns to her home state after having spent the past 15 months developing at Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra.
Originally from Canning Vale and a product of the Cockburn Cougars, Anticevic has represented Australia at the 2025 FIBA Under-17 Women’s Oceania Cup in Samoa, before being part of the 2026 Gems squad.
For Anticevic, joining the Lynx represents an opportunity to return home and take the next step in her basketball journey.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Perth Lynx and to have the opportunity to play at home in WA,” Anticevic said.
“Moving to Canberra and being part of the Centre of Excellence has been a massive experience for me.
“I’ve been able to train every day in a high-performance environment, compete against really good players, and learn a lot about what it takes to reach the next level.
“Growing up in WA, playing in the WNBL and representing Perth is something I’ve always wanted to work towards, so getting this opportunity at 18 is really special.
“There are so many experienced players in the Lynx group that I can learn from and I’m really looking forward to getting into the environment, competing every day and doing whatever I can to help the team.”
Perth Lynx Head Coach, Ryan Petrik, said bringing one of Western Australia’s leading young prospects into the Lynx environment was an exciting opportunity for both Anticevic and the club.
“Reece is an exciting young player coming through the WA pathway, and we’re really pleased to have her join us,” Petrik said.
“She’s already had some fantastic experiences for someone so young. Moving away from home to the Centre of Excellence, competing in NBL1 and representing Australia has exposed her to really strong high-performance environments.
“What we really like about Reece is her versatility.
“She has good size and athleticism, can play across multiple positions and has the ability to impact the game at both ends of the floor.
“She’s still only 18, so there’s plenty of development ahead of her, but we think putting her alongside our experienced players and giving her exposure to the WNBL environment is going to be really valuable.
“It’s also really important to us that talented young WA players can see a pathway into the Perth Lynx, and Reece is another great example of that.”
Anticevic’s commitment completes the Lynx’s rostered squad of 10 ahead of WNBL27, joining Georgia Amoore, Samantha Ashby, Alex Ciabattoni, Steph Gorman, Chloe Hodges, Teonni Key, Anneli Maley, Teige Morrell and Haley Peters, alongside Development Players Kyana Weir and Brooke Malone.
