The Perth Lynx have secured one of the WNBL’s longest-serving and most successful coaches, reappointing Ryan Petrik as Head Coach on a new multi-year contract.
Petrik will continue at the helm of the Lynx after guiding the club through one of the most successful periods in its recent history, including three WNBL Grand Final Series appearances in the past five seasons.
Since taking charge, Petrik has established Perth as a perennial contender, leading the Lynx to Championship Series appearances in 2022, 2024 and 2026 while helping build a culture that has consistently kept the club among the league’s leading teams.
Despite falling just short of securing a Championship during that stretch, the Lynx have remained one of the WNBL’s most competitive programs, with the club backing Petrik to continue driving success on and off the court.
Perth Lynx General Manager Chris Earl said the decision reflected the club’s confidence in Petrik’s leadership and long-term vision.
“Ryan has repeatedly shown that he can build a program capable of challenging for Championships,” Earl said.
“His record over the past five years, in particular guiding us to three Grand Final Series appearances, demonstrates not only his tactical strengths, but his ability to unite, develop and inspire this group.
“We firmly believe that Ryan is the coach to take us forward and ultimately deliver the Championship success we are striving for.”
Petrik said he was excited to continue building on the foundations already established at the club.
“I’m grateful for the trust this club has placed in me, and proud of what our group continues to build,” Petrik said.
“While we’ve enjoyed sustained success on the court over a number of years, winning the final game of the season remains a major focus for us.
“At the same time, the club continues to go from strength to strength off the court, and I’m excited about what lies ahead.”
The re-signing provides further stability for a Lynx side already shaping as a contender for WNBL27.
Perth has confirmed a strong core of its roster for the upcoming season, with Alex Ciabattoni, Steph Gorman, Nya Lok, Anneli Maley, Teige Morrell and Sami Whitcomb all locked in for another campaign.
With Petrik committed for the long term and a talented group already in place, the Lynx will again enter the new season with expectations of challenging at the pointy end of the competition.
