The WNBL27 Season might only be two rounds old, but one team might already be making a major roster move.
According to CODE Sports, the Southside Melbourne Flyers are parting ways with American import Sakima Walker.
Through the Flyers’ opening three games, the 24-year-old averaged 8 points, 6 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
CODE Sports is also reporting that Sam Mackinnon’s side has agreed to a deal with former Sydney Flames centre Unique Thompson.
“I was aware of that (replacing Walker) and we just had that conversation,” Thompson said to CODE Sports.
“He (Mackinnon) didn’t go into details and I didn’t ask for them either, but he just more so wanted to know about me as a player, my experience last season with Sydney and if I enjoyed it. So I should be there very soon, we’re just waiting for more information with my visa.
“I actually am very excited [to come to Melbourne].”
The Flyers next play Adelaide on Sunday at the Victorian State Basketball Centre from 1pm AEDT, live on 9Now and ESPN via Disney.
