The Bendigo Spirit announced on Wednesday the addition of local rising star Mia Harvey as an Amateur Development Player for the WNBL27 Season.
A product of the Bendigo basketball pathway, Harvey has continued to impress through the Braves program, with her selection in the Australian squad for the 2026 FIBA Under 18 Women’s Asia Cup highlighting her standing as one of the country’s most promising young talents.
Bendigo Spirit General Manager Dan Jackson said it was particularly pleasing to see a local player earn an opportunity with the club.
“We’re delighted to welcome Mia into our Development Player program for WNBL27,” Jackson said.
“Mia has come through our local pathway, and it’s exciting to see another Bendigo athlete earning this opportunity.
“She’s worked hard to get to this point and has a genuine desire to learn and improve, and we’re looking forward to seeing her continue to develop within our program.
“As a club, we’re committed to providing opportunities for emerging talent, particularly those coming through our local pathways, and we believe Mia will benefit enormously from being part of our environment.”
Harvey joins Olivia Olechnowicz as a Spirit Development Player for WNBL27.
Catherine MacGregor, who also re-signed as a Development Player with the Spirit for WNBL27, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament at the TechnologyOne Townsville TipOff, and will miss the remainder of the season.
