The Sydney Flames have continued their roster build by penning forward Isabelle Bourne to a one-year deal, pending WNBL review and approval.
Bourne was part of the Australian Opals squad that claimed gold at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup and has also represented Australia in the 3x3 format in recent years.
Following her WNBL26 Season with Southside Melbourne, where she averaged 16 points a game, Bourne joined Gernika in the Spanish league to further her international experience and continue to grow her game.
Bourne, who started her WNBL career with Adelaide, said the opportunity to join Sydney’s new-look program was one she was eager to embrace.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Sydney Flames this season,” Bourne said.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to play under Renae [Garlepp] and her staff and think this is the right environment for me to continue to grow as a player.
“The culture and style of play make this an exciting brand of basketball to be a part of.
“The Flames have put together a really amazing group of players, and I can’t wait to get after it!”
While her versatility and athleticism appeal to coach Garlepp, it is her hunger for improvement that has the Flames Head Coach most excited.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Issie to the Flames,” Garlepp said.
“She’s a terrific athlete and one of the leading forwards in the league, but still has so much upside. She brings versatility and a real desire to keep improving every day.
“I love her energy, athleticism and a strong presence, and we’re excited to have her in a Flames jersey.”
Bourne joins newly signed Ally Wilson, Jaz Shelley and Charlise Dunn, as well as returning quartet Lauren Nicholson, Shaneice Swain, Agnes Emma-Nnopu and Issy Morgan on the Flames roster for next season.
