The UC Capitals ensured they ended their 2026 TechnologyOne Townsville Tip Off on a high note, by defeating Southside Melbourne 85-70 on Sunday.

At the Murray Sporting Complex, the Capitals started the stronger of the two sides, to lead 24-16 at the first break.

That lead grew to double-digits by half-time, thanks to a 21-15 second term by Canberra.

Paul Goriss' side continued to push and once again outscored their rivals 29-24 in an end-to-end third period.

The Flyers pushed late and won the final period 15-11, but the damage was done and the Caps won by 15 points.

In the victory, electric guard Isabel Palmer scored a game-high 24 points, powered by 5 triples.

The NSW product also added 2 rebounds and 1 steal in the victory.

Others to reach double figures were Manny Puoch (14) and Meg McConnell (12).

In the defeat, Sakima Walker (18), Tess Heal (17) and Hannah Hank (11) were standouts for Sam Mackinnon's side.

Both teams leaving the pre-season tournament with a 1-1 record.
