The Sydney Flames have enjoyed an excellent start to the WNBL27 Season, picking up victories over the Southside Melbourne Flyers and Adelaide Lightning in Round 1.
Impressively, they did it all without one of their best players, Australian Opal and two-time WNBL champion Ally Wilson.
Speaking on The Loop, presented by Blackmores, Australian basketball legend Lauren Jackson explained the impact Wilson would have on Renae Garlepp’s side.
“She’s an Opal; she is a flat-out shooter, and she plays defence,” Jackson said.
“The impact that she has in games, it’s amazing.”
Seven-time WNBL champion Jackson also spoke about the way Wilson will fit into the lineup and take the team’s play to even greater heights.
“I think how she fits into that team, the role that she plays in that team, and the way that they gel together, it’s [going to be] frightening to see what they can do really,” Jackson said.
“I know Ally, she’s a great teammate; I’m very excited to watch this.”
The Sydney Flames will take on the UC Capitals at the Quaycentre on Friday, October 23 from 7pm AEDT.
