In the wake of a successful first season under the new WNBL ownership group, the Board is evolving its operating model to support our long-term ambition of building the best league in the world, with a stronger focus on operational delivery for our fans, clubs and players.
As a result of this restructure, the Chief Executive Officer role will no longer exist and Jennie Sager will finish up in the role on 7 April 2026.
The Ownership Group acknowledged the contribution of CEO Jennie Sager, who has led the league through a period of significant transformation and momentum.
“Jennie has played a substantial role in progressing the league over the past 15 months, including strengthening commercial partnerships, enhancing broadcast and marketing, and driving audience growth,” the Ownership Group said.
“We thank Jennie for her commitment, energy and leadership, and wish her success in her future endeavours.”
Sager said: “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved during my time at the WNBL.
"We delivered record-breaking attendance and broadcast audiences, more than tripled commercial revenue, and drove significant growth across digital and social platforms.
"Most importantly, we elevated the visibility and recognition of elite female athletes, our clubs, and the league as a whole.”
The WNBL will now focus on preparations for the 2026/27 season as it continues to expand its reach and build on recent momentum.
