WNBL stars secure crucial Game 1 victories

A number of WNBL and Australian stars continue to shine during the 2026 WNBA Playoffs.

Numerous current and former WNBL stars have played a role in helping their respective WNBA teams win Game 1 of their Semi-Final Series.
At State Farm Arena, the Atlanta Dream, headlined by Tasmania's Madina Okot and Bendigo's Izzy Borlase, outlasted New York 92-82 on Monday AEDT.
Those two collected 2 and 1 rebounds, respectively, while former WNBL MVP Jordin Canada scored a team-high 25 points for Atlanta.
Former WNBL import Naz Hillmon also featured in Atlanta's win, while Geelong's Han Xu, Perth's Anneli Maley and Australian Opal Bec Allen all suited up for the Liberty.
Game 2 is on Thursday AEDT at 10.30am.
In the other Playoff Semi-Final, Townsville's Miela Sowah and her Golden State Valkyries took Game 1 71-60 against Las Vegas.
Former WNBL talents Kayla Thornton and Veronica Burton added 8 and 4 points, respectively, for the victors, while former League imports Jackie Young and Brianna Turner tallied 11 and 2 points each for the Aces.
Las Vegas were without Adelaide's Steph Talbot for the fixture due to a left leg injury.
Game 2 of the best-of-five series is at 12.30pm AEDT on Thursday.
