Sharpshooter Abbey Wehrung is locked in for WNBL27, re-signing with the Bendigo Spirit.
A proven two-way threat, the 30-year-old guard brings elite shooting and defensive pressure as the Spirit gears up for another strong campaign.
Averaging 7.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, two assists while shooting 42.5 percent from the arc, Wehrung played an integral role in the Spirit’s third-placed finish on the ladder.
As a regional Victorian, Wehrung cannot wait to return to the 2025 Champions.
“I love the Spirit program and being part of this group,” Wehrung said.
“This club means a lot to me, and I’m proud of the role I play here. I’m looking forward to building on what we started this season and pushing ourselves again in WNBL27.”
Spirit General Manager, Dan Jackson, said Wehrung’s re‑signing was another important piece for the club’s roster as they looked towards next season.
“Abbey’s value to our program goes far beyond what people see on game day,” Jackson said.
“She brought tremendous leadership to our group this season, took on the vice captain role with real maturity, and set standards defensively every time she stepped on the court. Having her experience around a young core is incredibly important for us as we continue to build and chase success.”
Wehrung joins Georgia Booth, Izzy Borlase, Olivia Pollerd, Kelsey Rees and Casey Samuels as players contracted to the Spirit for the WNBL27 season.
