The Adelaide Lightning announced on Tuesday that versatile wing Gemma Potter will join the club for the WNB27 season, pending league review and approval.
Potter, who is currently recovering from an injury, has made 71 appearances in the WNBL for the UC Capitals and, most recently, Geelong Venom.
Through those matches, the 24-year-old is averaging 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists, highlighting why she will be an asset to the Lightning squad.
“From my first conversation with Aja and the club, Adelaide just felt right,” Potter said.
“The roster she’s putting together is really exciting, and I’m looking forward to learning and growing alongside this group.
“Aja’s vision for the team and the way she invests in her players really stood out to me.
“She genuinely cares about helping people grow both on and off the court, and that made me even more excited about this opportunity.
“I can't wait to play in front of the Adelaide fans after seeing the support they brought last season and the atmosphere they created around the team.
“I’m excited to be part of the community and help with growing the game even more here.”
Lightning General Manager of Basketball, Tess Madgen, says Potter’s signing is a significant boost for the club’s long-term vision.
“Gemma Potter is an incredibly important addition to our program and someone we see as a key piece moving forward,” Madgen said.
“While she’s coming off an injury-interrupted season, Gemma has already proven she is a starting-calibre player in the WNBL.”
Potter joins a revamped Lightning squad that features Steph Talbot, Zitina Aokuso, Dallas Loughridge, Tayla Brazel and Jess McDowell-White.
