The WNBL26 Most Valuable Player Isobel Borlase will remain with the Bendigo Spirit next season, with the 21-year-old re-signing after a career-defining campaign.
Borlase averaged 22.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and four assists per game, leading the Bendigo Spirit with authority while showcasing her ability to impact every facet of the game. Her standout season was recognised with the prestigious Suzy Batkovic MVP award, polling a remarkable 99 votes – 41 clear of second place.
Among her many defining performances, Borlase delivered one of the greatest individual displays in recent WNBL history, pouring in a career-high 42 points in Round 15. The performance saw her become just the 11th player in league history – and the first since Penny Taylor in 2002 – to reach the 42-point mark.
As one of the youngest MVPs in league history, Borlase played a pivotal role in leading the Spirit to the Semi Finals, where they fell narrowly to the Perth Lynx.
Fresh off an unbeaten 5-0 run in the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, the Paris Olympian continues to prove herself on the biggest stages, both domestically and internationally.
Borlase said she is excited to build on what she and the club have created.
“It feels right to come back,” Borlase reiterated.
“Bendigo has helped me grow so much on and off the court, and I love playing in this environment, with this group.
I’m grateful to be part of it for another season, and I hope I can contribute to the point where we can go that extra step in finals next year.”
With Borlase recommitting, the Spirit continue to build a strong foundation alongside Kelsey Reees andCasey Samuels as they look to go one step further next season.
