Caps sign Tall Fern to replace injured star

The UC Capitals will be without superstar guard Jade Melbourne for the foreseeable future, after she sustained a right hand injury during Tuesday's loss to the Perth Lynx.

Melbourne, who has produced 11.1 points, 6.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game across her 13 appearances this season, is expected to be sidelined until Round 16 with the injury.

As a result, the Caps have signed New Zealand international guard Tahlia Tupaea, fresh off a season with the Northern Kahu in the Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa, as an Injury Replacement Player.

In other Caps news, Australian Opal Sara Blicavs is in line to make her return to the hardwood, when the 6-8 Canberra hosts the 3-11 Sydney Flames at the AIS Arena on Saturday.
