New Zealand national team player Ella Tofeoana has signed as the latest piece in the puzzle for the Tasmania Jewels' roster build.
The National Team representative and 40-game WNBL veteran has committed to the inaugural Jewels in the 2026-27 season, pending League approval.
Playing last season with the Adelaide Lightning, Tofeoana was an enforcer in the paint, and will now help the Jewels form an identity of toughness under Head Coach Claudia Brassard.
“Ella brings a real physical presence to our frontcourt,” Brassard said.
“She competes every possession, rebounds the ball at both ends and gives us the toughness and interior presence every successful team needs.
“She’s a team-first player who will add to the culture we’re building.”
Currently perfecting her trade in the NBL1 North alongside Finals MVP Courtney Woods, Tofeoana explained her heritage is what makes her such a physical force.
“It might be the Polynesian side of me, I am a bit of an enforcer on the court,” Tofeaono said.
“I take pride in my strength, and my strength is my superpower … off the court, I’m all about community and connection. I’m big on people first, athletes second.”
The Jewels only have four roster spots to fill, as Tofeoana joins Keely Froling, Darcee Garbin, Nikki Parker, Andie Smith, Steph Reid, Taylor Mole and Katie Deeble.
