Talking points

Adelaide joins the winners' list

After losing their first three games of WNBL27, the Adelaide Lightning have finally joined the winners’ list with a hard-fought victory over the Southside Melbourne Flyers.

Shay Ciezki led the charge with 25 points, as the Lightning held off a late Southside push to break through for the first time this season.

With the pressure now off and their confidence building, the Lightning will be eager to turn this into a winning run, starting with this contest.

Is Tasmania a contender?

The Tasmania Jewels have made an impressive start to life in the WNBL, sitting at 2-1 after beating the Geelong Venom on debut and handing the previously unbeaten Sydney Flames their first loss of the season.

That 93-85 win over Sydney showed just how good this group can be, with all five starters reaching double figures against the ladder leaders.

With Keely Froling still sidelined but set to return in the coming weeks, the Jewels will be a genuine threat if they keep playing this way, and they shape as a tough matchup for the Lightning on Saturday.
