Talking points
Bendigo searching for their first win
Bendigo head into Monday night’s clash with Geelong still searching for their first win of the season.
Kennedy Kereama’s side has plenty of talent, with superstar Jade Melbourne and legends like Marianna Tolo, Kelsey Griffin, and Kelly Wilson, but they are still without Izzy Borlase and are yet to put a complete performance together.
The return of the aforementioned Tolo, who missed Tuesday’s clash with Townsville due to injury, will help their case massively as the Spirit’s talent needs to start translating into results before the pressure starts to build.
Can Han's dominance get Geelong over the line?
Han Xu has wasted no time making her presence felt since returning to the WNBL, and Geelong will be leaning on her again when they meet Bendigo on Monday night.
With Maddy Rocci and Bec Cole sidelined, Han Xu has been superb in her first two games for the Venom.
She carried a huge load in Saturday’s loss to the UC Capitals, so Geelong’s supporting cast will need to rise to the occasion as they did brilliantly against Southside.
Bendigo will throw plenty of size and experience at Han, but if she can control the paint the way she has so far, Geelong will be well placed to get the job done.
