Talking points

Heal an early MVP candidate?

Tess Heal has been one of the standout stories of the early WNBL27 Season, taking on a significant role for a Southside Melbourne Flyers side hit by injuries, and cementing her starting role in the process.

She was a driving force alongside Hannah Hank as the Flyers came back from 14 points down to hand the Tasmania Jewels their first-ever WNBL loss, proving she can carry the load when her team needs it most.

We’re just three rounds in and the MVP race is wide open, but if Heal keeps producing at this level for the Flyers, she’ll be impossible to leave out of the conversation.

Adelaide searching for their first win

The Adelaide Lightning are still searching for their first win of the WNBL27 Season, having fallen to Sydney, Townsville, and Perth in a tough opening stretch.

There have been glimpses of what this group can do, but the Lightning have struggled to put four quarters together against any of those sides.

With the pressure building early, a breakthrough victory here would go a long way towards turning their season around, and they’ll be desperate to make it happen.
