Australian Opals captain Ezi Magbegor has suffered a torn ACL at the FIBA Women’s World Cup, Basketball Australia confirmed overnight.

While the Opals were knocked out at the Quarter-Final stage against Spain, the news is even more devastating for the Seattle Storm star.

“Ezi Magbegor will miss time after scans confirmed an ACL rupture in her right knee,” Basketball Australia said.

“The Australian Opals will wrap their arms around Ezi and we have no doubt in her character and resilience as she enters a period of recovery.”

Magbegor tore the ACL during the first quarter of the Opals’ win against Italy on Thursday morning.
