Townsville’s Miela Sowah and her Golden State Valkyries are just one win away from creating WNBA history.
Heading into Friday’s AEDT Finals Game 6, the Valkyries lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 against the Atlanta Dream, headlined by Bendigo’s Izzy Borlase and Tasmania’s Madina Okot.
While Sowah is yet to hit the hardwood in the Series as a Development Player, the 26-year-old has explained the key role she has for her Valkyries, who are chasing their first-ever title.
“With my role as the DP, I do team trainings and personal development, so skill work, extra conditioning, gym sessions are longer, heavier weights are more extensive on the body because it’s about getting stronger,” Sowah told ESPN.
“We play stay-ready games, we have practice players, we play against the guys to get game conditioning, to get faster, stronger, and it definitely helps in terms of staying ready.”
Game 6 tips off at 3.30am AEDT on Friday.
