South Australian talent Tayla Brazel is set to return for the Adelaide Lightning for WNBL27.
Brazel made a fairytale return to WNBL court last season after overcoming back-to-back knee injuries. The 22-year-old went on to deliver a career-best campaign in WNBL26, posting highs across points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks for the new-look Lightning.
As one of the league’s best defenders, Brazel has been a key piece to Adelaide’s rebuild led by former Opals captain and Lightning General Manager of Baskebtall Tess Madgen.
"Keeping South Australian players at the Lightning is something we're deeply proud of,” Madgen said.
“Tayla had a fantastic season and her development has been exciting to watch. She's a player our community can connect with and get behind and we're so glad she's staying home."
Excited to stay home, Brazel said she cannot wait to get ready for a strong campaign.
"There's nowhere else I'd rather be. Adelaide is home, and this club feels like family. Last season gave me so much confidence and I'm hungry to come back even better,” she said.
“I can’t wait to get back onto the court and show what we can all do together.”
Fresh off a 24-point triple-double against the Eastern Mavericks in NBL1 Central, Brazel is set for a huge WNBL27 campaign alongside Head Coach Aja Parham-Ammar, Breakout Player of the Year Dallas Loughridge and Opal Steph Talbot.
