The Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) has officially launched its new brand identity, marking a bold new chapter for Australia's premier women's basketball competition under the powerful new banner: Ready to Rise.
The refreshed WNBL brand is more than a new look - it's a statement of intent. A symbol of momentum and purpose, the brand champions the power and professionalism of women's basketball in Australia, honours the league's rich legacy, while setting its sights firmly on the future.
At the heart of the new identity is a striking, stylised 'W' logo - a motif inspired by the net and hoop that evolves into a winged icon, representing the spirit of the game and limitless potential of its players.
The re-brand follows a series of landmark developments for the WNBL since the league came under new ownership in April, including a historic Collective Bargaining Agreement which delivers WNBL players pro-rata pay parity with their counterparts in the NBL.
WNBL CEO Jennie Sager said this is a big moment for the league, a league our players can look to for empowerment, and one that inspires young girls right across the country to pick up a basketball.
"This is a significant step forward for the longest-running national women's sporting league, one that is shaping the future of the game for our players, clubs and fans," Mrs Sager said.
"We listened to our players, past and present, and engaged stakeholders from across the league. The result is a brand identity that reflects who we are - bold, empowered, professional and inspiring."
The new colour palette was selected from a colour-wheel which incorporated all eight WNBL club colours. The two hues - purple and teal - emerged as the most vibrant and electrifying, perfectly capturing the energy and fearlessness that defines the league.
Rising stars and household names alike have embraced the rebrand, with Olympian and WNBA player Jade Melbourne calling it a perfect fit for the modern WNBL.
"I think it is super fitting for us," Melbourne said.
"It's ours, it's our new league, it's a great product and it's only going to get better and better with a fresh start and new logo.
"It is going to be so nice to see it on the court."
