Geelong's Jaz Shelley wins NBL1 South MVP
In arguably the most competitive women's conference in the country, the WNBL has dominated the NBL1 South awards night.

The Geelong Venom have swept the 2025 NBL1 South awards, taking home three major trophies in their undefeated season.
Three major players of the club, Jaz Shelley, Gemma Potter and Megan Moody have spent their time with the NBL1 South’s Geelong United this off-season, building towards the Venom’s debut campaign.
Geelong Venom star Shelley was named the Conference MVP, in arguably the most competitive women’s conference in the country. The 25-year-old guard averaged 20 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.5 steals for the historically dominant Geelong United.

Joining her on the stage was Potter, who was named co-Defensive Player of the Year alongside former WNBL star Steph Reid. After rehabbing two ACLs earlier in her career. Potter is now flourishing – leading Geelong’s perfect defence.
Lastly, Geelong's General Manager of Pathways and Head Coach of Geelong United, Moody, was named Women’s Coach of the Year after leading her team through an undefeated season, only the second team to achieve such a feat.

Adelaide Lightning recruit Dallas Loughridge was named the Women’s Youth Player of the Year. With the Dandenong Rangers, she averaged an NBL1 career-high of 20.3 points and shot 42.4 percent from the three-point arc.
At only 21 years old, the sky is the limit for the Lightning’s major off-season signing. Could we see her take another leap this season under Head Coach Kerryn Mitchell?
Three WNBL players made the NBL1 South First-Team, with Shelley, Southside’s Maddison Rocci and Townsville’s Alicia Froling all having spectacular campaigns. While on the second team, Loughridge, her Dandenong teammate and UC Capitals star Nyadiew Puoch and Southside’s Isabelle Bourne rounded out the Second-Team.
Shelley’s Geelong United will take on Froling and her Knox Raiders today in the NBL1 South Women’s Grand Final. Watch the game from 4:30pm AEST live via Kayo Freebies.
